Happiness Reflections

Nobody is always happy. Mood is often like the weather. Clouds gather. Rain comes. The temperature changes, all day long and through the night. In the U.S. many of us have come to expect sunny days. We label days as “Good” or “Bad” and lament or ruminate on our suffering, mistakes, and regrets.

Over the past 19 weeks we’ve encouraged anyone who reads our posts to engage in intentional happiness practices. Most of the practices have research support for helping improve mood, enhance meaning, and foster a sense of calm and comfort. If you’ve participated, you probably know that some of these happiness practices worked better for you than others. That’s a great insight. The whole point of offering 20 weeks of different happiness assignments was to give you a chance to experiment and see what works best for you.

This week—week 20—is about reflecting on the past 19 and returning to what worked best for you. Below, you can review each of the 19 featured happiness practices. Your job, this week, is to look back and contemplate which practice you liked best . . . and do it again. You can also share your favorite practice with us, on social media, or to anyone in whom you’d like to confide. We hope your visit and revisit our website to practice and share the Happiness Challenge all over again, whenever you like.

Have a great week.
